4:01 pm - a land line mystery
a german man called me this morning, but let me backtrack a bit.pizza phone

i have a land line i never use. there are 2 reasons. one is that mylaar had to borrow my phone. it looks like a slice of stouffer's french bread pizza. the second reason is that my mobile is my real contact. regrettably megalord sbc/at+t requires that i pay for a land line in order to get the internet. i think this is criminal and dislike them. i rarely use the line to make calls and never give it as part of my personal information.

ok, back to the story. since my phone was returned to me two nights ago, i plugged it into the jack . it rings often during telemarketer hours, but i have not been answering it. i figure it can only be the unsolicted since almost no one i know knows the phone number, let alone that i plugged the phone in and that it is working.

this morning as i was getting ready for the workday, it rang. i answered. phone calls that are not between the hours of 6pm and 10pm make me nervous; i always apply a certain urgency to them. the caller was a german man. i knew he was german because he said he was calling from a german television program and he had an accent. he seemed nice and was apologetic as he explained the reason for his call.

it seems that the program is one where people surprise other people, like a reunion type show where a program will track down your long lost loved one and fly them to meet you because you are broke. the german man might have said his name or the show's name but i was not paying close enough attention. he asked me if i had a daughter. i was very confused and quickly said no. my answer puzzled him as much as his question puzzled me. he said he was given the task of contacting the father of the girl who was going to be on the show. he was supposed to talk to a man with my name, phone number and address who had a daughter named shantelle living in germany. instead he was talking to me, a childless man with no real connection to germany. i told the man that his information was incorrect and wished him well with his search. as a sidenote, i never stated my address or phone number nor did he ever confirm his information with me.

i carried on with my morning preparations. the phone rang again. the man apologised for calling a second time explaining that a colleague had told him more information that he needed to confirm. he asked if i was positive that i did not have a daughter. i quickly answered the i was sure that i did not have any children, including international daughters. he said shantelle had corresponded with her father via post to my address. i said i have never seen letters from shantelle. i asked the man her age; he responded with 14. i thought she might be older than me, easily clearing up the misinformation. i said to him that it was even more unlikely that i would have a child half my age. he asked my age and that was the only bit of information i let out. at this point, my puzzlement and my involvement started to creep me out and i politely said my goodbye to the german man.

now i sit here still creeped out by what happened. one part thinks this is all very cute that i spoke to the german man this morning. another part of me thinks that i have been duped somehow, now part of some elaborate and terrible scheme based somewhere in dayton ohio led by some guy who affects a pretty good german accent. when i get home tonight, i am unplugging the phone.

9:28 pm - OK COMPUTER....

so i just sold my mappletosh computer and i think i want a laptop, probably windows -- leaning toward sony (mylaar has a sony -- it works well and looks nice). i am admittedly wary of switching from a monster desktop to a mini notebook. in the effort of research, i am polling to learn opinions.

what kind of computer do you have and why? if you do not like that one, what computer would you rather have and why?

7:58 pm - wait a tick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whoa! and i quote:

"She was originally V-smash, and Miwallaby customized her head, eye lashes, and 2 eye colors! The concept is "Cat Fairy," so we made cat head out of fake fur fabric, and glued on her head(it's NOT hat, so it's NOT supposed to be removed. She doesn't have hair under the fake fur except bangs). She has a little cupper color bangs showing front of her head. She has the original PINK & GREEN eyes, and new BROWN & GREYISH PURPLE eyes replaced from the original BLUE & ORANGE. Her original eye lashes has been replaced to eye lashes made out of human hair which are soft and more curly. Miwallaby removed all her make up except lip color & freckles. She is wearing Miwallaby original Yellow mini skirt & fake fur socks matche to her head. Her pull ring is now covered w/ fake fur, too. Also, we put V-smash original lingeries & Mademoiselle original jacket, and 2 pair of Barbie shoes fit Blythe w/ socks in this set. She is very cute, and waiting for you to love her!"

all of the sudden my workplace is a graphic smut den. that is to say that i am using the images above in making signage for the international mister leather (iml) competition happening this weekend.

a coworker of mine who knows nothing of the beauty pageant for muscley bearish gay men thought iml stood for international men of lace. i like that better.

5:19 pm - cookie, a fortune
my fortune cookie told me this today:
procrastination is the thief of time.

if that is true, then my life is a case of grand larceny. i mean not to be dramatic, but time flies and recently (oh, the past 6 years or so) i came to the realization that i have no dream to follow. my time thus far seems partially ill spent and now i must take action.

i am thankful for qylaar of course, but i have to devote more time to making it successful. and with all of my other free time, i must concoct my dream and follow it, or i will be sad.

no regrets for days past...only positive thoughts for the future.
